The final 5th training was held in Kavarna municipal hall under the auspice of the Mayor on 19th of March 2015 - the last day of the project. There were 23 participants from the target municipalities in the Dobrich region, the District office, hotel and restaurant managers, transport companies and journalists. 5 persons from the CSDCS project team were also participating. Prof. Ilieva presented the final results from the implementation of the SEEMORE measures in the region and the new possibilities for projects development under H2020. The second part of the meeting was dedicated to the presentation of the Kavarna SUMP elaborated by the SEEMORE team in close collaboration with Kavarna municipal experts. A delivery and acceptance protocol was signed and the SUMP was officially submitted to the City Council. As the first pilot SUMP for Bulgaria, it provoked a big interest of media, which took interviews and made a lot of publications about SEEMORE and the Kavarna SUMP.

The exhibition was organized in the frame of SEEMORE project and presented 14 photos selected among 111 proposals. The visitors have the possibilities to vote for the best photo till the 30th of August, whose author will be rewarded.

SEEMORE is promoted free of charge by the biggest bus company in Bulgaria ETAPP-GRUP

After an agreement between CSDCS and the management of the biggest bus company in Bulgaria ETAPP-GRUP, a free-of-charge advertising campaign for SEEMORE was launched on the long distance public transport provider’s busses and ticket offices. SEEMORE posters are posted and postcards disseminated at the company’s ticket offices in the main Bus station in Sofia, as well as in all busses running to the Black sea side.

The CSDCS Board Manager Prof. Lucia Ilieva is the first QUEST-auditor for Bulgaria, licensed after the Budapest training in September 2013. She disseminated a lot of SEEMORE materials during the QUEST meeting. The QUEST tool has been designed to help small and medium-sized cities to set up and further develop their sustainable mobility policies and actions with the assistance of an external expert (QUEST auditor). QUEST supports European cities in making real progress towards a more sustainable urban transport system, and helps them to find solutions for achieving the desired goals. The QUEST method has been developed within the European project QUEST (2011-2013), co-funded by the European Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation, under the Intelligent Energy Europe STEER Programme.

Tourists visiting Dobrich resorts can see the posters and postcards promoting the SEEMORE photo-competition everywhere. They are disseminated to all receptions and posted on the main doors and advertising boards in all local hotels. Albena resort uploaded the posters on its official site, which is visited yearly by more than 800 000 persons.

The Dobrich Municipality kept its promise to introduce a new bike rental scheme following the SEEMORE Action Plan for the region. By the end of August 2013, 30 bikes were provided and parking places for them were constructed in the city centre. It was funded by the OP Regional Development. The official opening of the rental scheme was conducted on 30th of August by the city mayor Mrs. Detelina Nikolova and the next summer season it will be available for citizens and tourists

The first project meeting for Bulgaria in the frames of the EU project ENCLOSE (IEE/11/826) was planned as an Awareness Raising Event in Balchik on 23-24 July 2013. It was organized by the Balchik Municipality – a Bulgarian project partner. Two Italian experts, representing the lead partner – Mr. Giorgio Ambrosino and Mr. Stefan Guerra participated in the meeting, as well as the Dep. Mayor Mr. S. Zhelezov, the Chief of the EU Projects department Mr. D.Dimitrov and several municipal officers. Following the Agenda, Prof. Ilieva presented SEEMORE and its achievements, implemented according to the Action plan approved by the local authorities. She distributed also the new printed advertising materials – posters and teaser postcards, which should be disseminated by the municipality to all hotels and travel agencies in the Balchik area. The synergy between both projects was discussed and the conclusion was the mobility measures in Balchick stemming from SEEMORE provided a good basis for further measures related to logistics in the frames of ENCLOSE/

New parking policy in Balchik

A new parking policy in Balchik stems from the cooperation between SEEMORE and ENCLOSE projects. It became evident during the meeting of SEEMORE staff with Balchik municipality and two Italian experts, working for ENCLOSE.

The SEEMORE PM Prof. Lucia Ilieva was invited by the Balchik Municipality for a meeting on 23rd of July 2013. The main purpose was to discuss the parking policy following the SEEMORE Action plan. The meeting was conducted in the municipal premises with the Dep. Mayor Mr. S. Zhelezov, the Chief of the EU Projects department Mr. D.Dimitrov and several municipal officers. It was planned in the frames of the Awareness Raising Event 1 of the ENCLOSE project, where the Balchik municipality was a partner. Two Italian experts – Mr. Giorgio Ambrosino and Mr. Stefan Guerra also took part in the discussion. The Dep. Mayor presented the municipal mobility actions made during the last year following the SEEMORE recommendations: three new parkings constructed (with 80 places on Primorska Str., with 50 next to the Hospital and with 70 on the beach alley). The access of cars on the beach alley was limited and actually the only allowed access was for vehicles charging hotels and restaurants from 6 h. to 9 h. a.m. The Municipality is planning to construct a big parking with 500 places in the peripheral area of Balchik close to the highway with funding form the OPRD 2014-20.

Training and children festival in Dobrich

Training and children festival dedicated to energy saving through sustainable mobility were organized by CSDCS in the frames of SEEMORE and EUSEW 2013.

The events started with announcement of the National Radio Horizont at 11 h. on 24.06.2013. A children festival was organized in the Dobrich Natural park, where CSDCS staff put signs on the innovated cycling path linking the park with the city centre. More than 100 children took place by participating in the cycling tour, drawing on the asphalt and on paper their visions about sustainable mobility. All participants received SEEMORE T-shirts, caps, ice cream and mineral water offered by CSDCS. A press-conference took part at 11h. in the CCI-premises in Dobrich, followed by a cocktail and a training seminar for professionals in transport and tourism.

Mobility packages for visitors launched in Dobrich region  

Mobility packages for visitors launched in Dobrich region

In summer 2013 the tourists in Dobrich region will have the possibility to plan their trips in a sustainable way using the Integrated Mobility Information Package (IMIP). It was elaborated by the SEEMORE team in cooperation with the local authorities and transport operators. The IMIP will be distributed to 50 biggest hotels in the target area and also can be downloaded from the official district site http://dobrich.government.bg/ipage.php?id=317

The IMIP consists of two materials: a leaflet and a brochure. The leaflet contains a detailed description of local leisure sites with many pictures and information how to reach them by sustainable way of transport. The brochure represents a Regional visitors’ mobility guide including complete and integrated information and timetables of public transport and coaches. The texts are presented in Bulgarian, Russian, English and Romanian. As the budget for printing of paper materials is limited by the project budget (2000 units), the District Governor and mayors agreed to publish on their official sites a printable version of the IMIP thus allowing tourists and citizens to download and print it for their own needs. The first workshop for 20 tourism professionals working in direct contact with visitors was held in Hotel “Mistral”**** in Balchik on 7th of March 2013.The main training topic was: “Sustainable mobility – introduction and European best practices”. During the workshop, the Project manager explained the role of the IMIP and why it is important to be distributed and promoted among visitors. All participants agreed on the necessity to introduce sustainable mobility in resort areas and shared some ideas for mobility measures.

EU project develops mobility management in Dobrudzha costal area

For the first time, the project SEEMORE introduces the mobility management approach in Dobrich region targeting the Dobrudzha Black sea coastal area. It is one of the best conserved seaside area abounding with natural and heritage resources. More than 300 000 tourists visit each summer its nice resorts, where they can enjoy golden sand beaches, clean sea water and rich and exotic flora and fauna. The project SEEMORE is implemented under the motto: “FOR MORE ATTRACTIVE AND ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY SEASIDE DOBRUDZA THROUGH SUSTAINABLE TOURISM AND TRANSPORT DEVELOPMENT”. The main goals are as follows: 1. To develop a strong information and promotion campaign thus introducing the term “Mobility Management’ in the region and explaining the benefits of sustainable tourism and transport development. 2. To introduce new mobility measures in resort areas thus linking tourism and transport sectors 3. To increase the energy effectiveness of the transport Target areas for the Bulgarian partner CSDCS (www.csdcs.org) are Kavarna and Balchik Municipalities and Albena resort. During the high season 2012 a thorough research was conducted among visitors there. The proceeding of the results allowed the establishment of a detailed SWOT-analysis of the tourism and transport state-of-the-art in the region. As such activity was taking place for the first time in the region, the local community manifested high interest and the support of the local government and businesses was evident. The project team collected Letters for support from the district and municipal administrations, Albena resort management, public transport operators, professional associations and agencies, as well as from local businesses. The first press-conference was held in the beginning of September resulting in more than 20 press-releases in local and central media. A Local Experts Group was created and a Local Strategy and Action Plan for mobility measures were elaborated and approved by all local stakeholders. By the end of 2012 the advertising team started collecting information for elaborating the promotional printed materials as it was previewed in the Local strategy. It is expected they will be ready for distribution in early spring before the start of the high season 2013.
