SEEMORE is reaching a broader audience

SEEMORE is reaching a broader audience

A number of meetings were held in Bohuslän during the autumn of 2013. This has resulted in SEEMORE being well known by many actors in the region.

A selection of the meetings are described below. November 1st. The SEEMORE project was presented for the municipal officials responsible for infrastructure and public transport within the Fyrbodal region which consists of the seven municipalities within the SEEMORE region and seven additional municipalities. November 14th. SEEMORE was presented during a bicycle seminar at a tourism meeting for Bohuslän. There were around 100 people at the tourism meeting, and the persons invited were the regional tourism association, the officials responsible for tourism within the municipalities, the entrepreneurs etcetera. November 26th. A parking seminar was organized within the SEEMORE project. The background to this meeting is that the high season is short in Bohuslän with a lot of visitors in July. The roads get crowded, and there is a lack of parking space. The municipality officials responsible for tourism, public transport and infrastructure were all invited to listen to an inspirational workshop on parking and mobility management. The participant also took part in a workshop discussing parking problems and solutions to the problems. November 29th. The SEEMORE project was presented to the officials responsible for tourism in Bohuslän. December 3rd. A national transfer seminar was organized by SEEMORE in Strömstad in northern Bohuslän. We invited representatives from the region of Østfold in Norway, the Swedish Transport Authority and from the tourist organization Södra Bohuslän Turist. We shared our experiences so far and invited speakers that talked about 1) bike tourism development on the Swedish west coast 2) an interesting tool for public transport called Journey Genie.

Funny stop part of sustainable travel

Funny stop part of sustainable travel

Kaleidoscope, board games, art and beautiful wind chimes. A bus shelter can be much more than a protection against wind and weather. Three students have created shelters transforming waiting to a good time, and a place for meetings.

With juice, classic swedish cinnamon buns, soap bubbles, music and a thrilling match of "three in a row" between Councilor Ronnie Brorsson and Ulrika Frick from the Region Västra Götaland, the concept bus shelter was inaugurated in Strömstad the 25th of July . Three students from the University of Gothenburg and art college in the same city won the last Traveler Fight (an competition to develop public transport), and now they had a chance to realize their ideas. — We think it is great that we have been given the chance to contribute to a more sustainable travel and we hope that the concept can be applied to more bus shelters ahead, said the three students. Besides the bus shelter in Strömstad students have also worked with a shelter in Hallinden, and the concept is similar. Wind chimes, information on destinations nearby, facts and issues, kaleidoscope and board games to transform the waiting in to a pleasurable experience. Region Västra Götaland is responsible for public transport in the region. An overarching goal is that public transport will pick market share away from the car. — The future climate challenges require that more choose public transport. One way to get more people to choose public transport is to make the whole trip a pleasant experience, and then art and parlor games at bus shelters is a way to attract more travelers, says Ulrika Frick, chairman of Västra Götaland transport committee, which funds the new bus stops.
