Successful dissemination of tourist information package

The sustainable mobility tourist information package has been fully disseminated during summer 2014 in Malta

The information package has been updated before printing and disseminated in order to introduce the recent changes of the public transport in Malta. The package has been printed and provided to all tourist information centers, a number of hotels, on board of Virtu ferries (the ferry company operating the service Sicily-Malta) to be disseminated for free to tourist. The package is also available electronically from the national tourism website of Malta- Visit Malta, LCA website and through social media.

The SEEMORE Malta team has produced two strategic reports which are to be submitted to the relevant authorities to serve as a base for implementation in order to improve the bike tourism in Malta. One of the document is suggesting the implementation of bicycle sharing scheme and the other is proposing bike racks in public transport.

Nearly 30 photos have been received and participated in the photo competition. A team of tourism and transport experts participated in the selection process and decided that the 1st prize- digital photo camera goes to Vincent van Roomenfrom Holland. The second prize, I pod shuffle, was sent to Franca Buffi from Italy.

The photo competition is running until 30th September 2013 and the winning photos will be selected during the national transfer seminar taking place on 15th October 2013 where experts from the tourism and transport sectors will be invited! The postcards and posters were disseminated at all tourist information offices in Malta, a number of hotels, public transport tickets boots, inside the board of Sicily-Malta ferry, a number of websites, Air Malta flight magazine, and others, including hand to hand dissemination from a specially requited promotional staff!

SEEMORE Promotional campaign in Malta

SEEMORE has taken part in the EUSEW event in Malta!

The Local Councils' Association has started a number of activities associated with the SEEMORE local promotional campaign. The LCA has officially launched the SEEMORE photo competition and presented the project during the launch of the EU Sustainable Energy Week in Malta on 22nd June 2013. Important politicians were present for the event and delivered speech, including the importance of the project. The SEEMORE roll up as well as two stands with SEEMORE postcards, posters and leaflets are being set up from 21st June until 28th June 2013 at the most visited shopping centers in Malta- The Point and Danniels. This shopping centers are situated in touristic areas and are ideal place for the dissemination of the photo competition promotional material. SEEMORE billboards was set up from 15th June until 15th July 2013 at the most touristic area in Malta. Thousands of tourists are walking in that area everyday, making the billboard and the project visible! Information about the SEEMORE project can also be found on the "Energy Tips" mobile APP available for free on Android and Apple store.

Malta Awareness Campaign!

Local Councils' Association is preparing a number of activities during the EUSEW- European Union Energy Sustainable Week!

Local Councils’ Association is preparing to set up a SEEMORE billboard in the most touristic area of Malta- Sliema. The billboard will be placed for 1 month in June and July 2013. A Facebook page was set up for the photo competition which will take place this summer in Malta: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Seemore-Malta/115435838652695?fref=ts Tourists will be encouraged to upload their photos for the competition there! Posters, postcards and video are also being prepared! The aim of the photo competition and the billboard is to promote the use of alternatives to the car among the tourists – bicycles, e-bikes, bus, quad bikes, segways, etc. The SEEMORE photo competition and the billboard will be officially launched during an open event which will take place during the EUSEW from 24th to 28th June 2013. Important politicians will be present for the event and media will be invited! At the same time, LCA will also set up 2 large pop up displays with energy saving tips at the 2 most popular shopping centers in Malta- “The Point” and “Danniels”.

Promotion of Sustainable Mobility in Malta

Malta is a very attractive holiday destination and it hosts every year more then 1 million tourists. Most of the visitors fell in love with the beautiful nature and pleasant weather and return more then once again to the island!

The SEEMORE project in Malta is to target the tourists and convince them in using sustainable mobility by promoting the “TRAVEL SMART, SEE MORE” initiatives! The project kicked off locally by conducting a detailed survey among tourists in the island. The survey helps us analyze their travel behavior and plan the best local strategies, in order to achieve the best possible results! The results of the survey was presented to the Local Working Group composed of the most important travel and tourists ministries, institutions and organizations on the island. All members from the working group are committed to help Local Councils’ Association with the implementation of the SEEMORE project on the island. Furthermore, they are all convinced in the positive effect the project might have after implementing the planned activities and tasks. The project team has also elaborated the Local Action Plan and the Local Communication Plan! The project team had committed all tasks planned for 2012 and it is now starting the work for all tasks foreseen for 2013!
